Belgium

Visited: March 2013

The Laeken Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in the city of Brussels and well-known as the resting place for the rich and famous, as well as the Belgian Royal Family. Under the cemetery, there lies the forgotten crypt.

Only a little information can be found on the abandoned crypt but it seems like the underground area was dug in 1870s, after the expansions of the surface area. When I visited in 2013, there were three parts - surface area, new underground area (the first two still in function), and old underground area, which I was pretty sure, was not on a regular maintenance.

Apparently some renovation work was done in  2017, but I do not know for sure the underground area was renovated or not. Only way to find out is to visit there.
